Choate’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Receives Top Tier 1 National Ranking from The Legal 500

Choate announced today that its Mergers & Acquisitions practice has received a top Tier 1 national ranking for Middle-Market M&A (sub-$500m) from The Legal 500, a guide to the preeminent law firms in the United States.  Choate also received top national rankings for its Private Equity Buyouts, Venture Capital and Emerging Companies, Corporate Restructuring, Healthcare: Life Sciences and Insurance & Reinsurance practices.

According to The Legal 500, Choate’s Tier 1 M&A practice is known for itsknowledge, responsiveness, ethics and advice” and “top-notch legal and business experts.”  The Legal 500 noted that Choate’s M&A attorneys Stephen Cohen, Charles Johnson and T.J. Murphy are all “outstanding.”

Choate’s Private Equity Buyouts Group was highlighted for being “excellent,” “extremely knowledgeable” and “responsive.”  Stephen Cohen, Brian Lenihan and T.J. Murphy received “outstanding” praise from clients according to The Legal 500.

Choate’s Venture Capital and Emerging Companies practice was recognized for “its strong heritage in the middle-market private equity sector and its client portfolio of classic venture funds” which “is clearly suited to the growth equity segment for later stage companies.”  Choate attorney Brian Lenihan was called a “leading figure” in the firm’s VC practice along with Stephen Cohen and T.J. Murphy.

Choate’s Corporate Restructuring practice is known for its “great lawyers” and “deep knowledge of the law and outstanding service.”  According to The Legal 500, “the firm fields a well-balanced practice that handles a steady stream of both debtor and creditor work.”  Chair Douglas Gooding and “the highly experienced and creative” Kevin Simard were also profiled.
