Carlos Perez-Albuerne is a member of the firm’s Hiring, Diversity and Technology Committees. 

Mr. Perez-Albuerne was named a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2006 and 2007.  Mr. Perez-Albuerne was selected for “20 on the Move” award, a Boston Business Journal and El Planeta joint venture, in 2008.

Mr. Perez-Albuerne has served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County.  In that role, Mr. Perez-Albuerne was responsible for the investigation, preparation and trial of numerous criminal matters for the County.

Previous Experience

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Perez-Albuerne spent several years at the Eastman Kodak Company.

Intellectual Property Litigation:  litigation regarding intellectual property, information technology and complex commercial issues.

Representative Engagements

  • Represented Akamai Technologies in patent infringement litigation involving internet content delivery and traffic management technology.  After a three week trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of Akamai in the amount of more than $45 million, which is named the largest verdict of 2008 by Mass Lawyers Weekly, and is listed among the top 50 verdicts nationally in the National Law Journal.   Akamai Technologies v.   • Represented the Electronic Privacy Information Center which, along with the US Telecom Association, successfully challenged the FCC’s attempted implementation of regulations that would have unconstitutionally altered the standard for electronic monitoring of individuals.  US Telecom Association v. Publications and Presentations

Mr. Perez-Albuerne regularly writes and speaks on issues relating to intellectual property and the intersection of law and technology.  His articles appear in a wide range of publications, from professional periodicals to scholarly journals such the George Washington School of Law Technology Journal.  Mr. Perez-Albuerne also speaks frequently on the issue of diversity in the legal profession.

Professional and Community Involvement

Mr. Perez-Albuerne is the President – Elect of the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys and serves as the deputy regional president for the New England Region of the HNBA.  Mr. Perez-Albuerne is also an active member the Boston Bar Association and the American Bar Association’s Section of Science and Technology.  Mr. Perez-Albuerne also serves on the boards of various educational and charitable organizations in the greater Boston area.
