Benjamin M. Daniels

Benjamin Daniels participated in the firm’s Summer Associate Program after his second year of law school. While in law school, Mr. Daniels worked at the Boston College Legal Assistance Bureau’s Community Enterprise Clinic as a student attorney, providing legal advice and consultation to individual and non-profit clients on a range of legal matters. He also worked with Citigroup as a legal intern in the Global Transaction Services Group.

Prior to joining Choate, Mr. Daniels worked as an intern with the Massachusetts High Technology Council where he worked on a variety of public policy and legal matters concerning public and private technology companies in Massachusetts.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Daniels served as the Global Manager of programming for families and young athletes at the international headquarters of Special Olympics where he worked with colleagues around the world to expand and improve the organization.

Practice Focus

General Corporate & Securities:  engages in general corporate matters for public and private companies.

Healthcare:  advises healthcare providers and medical device companies on regulatory compliance including privacy and security (HIPAA, HITECH and state laws), from government and private payers, mandatory incident reporting, and other regulatory and commercial matters.

Representative Engagements

• Assisted in representation of private equity client in $260 million acquisition of plastic products manufacturer and associated debt financing.
• Advised private equity client on healthcare regulatory matters associated with $100 million sale of addiction treatment centers.
• Member of team representing private equity client in $34 million acquisition of air ambulance company.
• Advised financial services client on regulatory matters related to Medicare and workers’ compensation settlements.
• Advised board of public energy company on benefits and challenges presented by adopting majority voting elections of directors.

Professional and Community Involvement

Mr. Daniels is a member of the Boston Bar Association.  He is also a member of the board of directors of the Allston-Brighton Community Development Corporation.
