    Choate attorneys represented a private equity investor in the acquisition and restructuring of a regional ambulatory surgery center, large multi-office physician practice and several related optical shops.  On behalf of the surgicenter, Choate coordinated all regulatory approvals, including those required by the state licensing agency and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Choate also developed a new management company structure for the venture.

    Choate attorneys represented a community hospital in the first Stark law matter resolved under CMS' controversial Self Referral Disclosure Protocol, which was instituted in late 2010.  On behalf of the hospital, Choate was able to secure a favorable financial resolution for the institution without further administrative or legal action by the federal government.
