Sara Rau represents healthcare companies and providers in a broad range of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. She counsels clients on compliance and regulatory issues, particularly with respect to HIPAA and related privacy laws, federal healthcare regulatory laws, and state and federal licensure. Sara also has experience with financings, real estate investment trusts, and executive employee agreements.
Before she joined Choate, Sara Rau rose to be Deputy General Counsel of a large health care system. In her in-house role Sara led the system’s legal function in multiple mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; she prepared and reviewed contracts involving physician services, supply chain, executive compensation and other areas; and she led responses to regulatory inquiries.
