Choate Receives 100 Percent Perfect Score as “Best Place to Work” from the Human Rights Campaign for Fourth Consecutive Year

Choate has been named a “Best Place to Work” by the Human Rights Campaign in its 2015 Corporate Equality Index, which assessed 971 US companies on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace equality.  Choate received the highest possible rating of 100 percent, which the firm has received every year since HRC began its ranking four years ago.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign for meeting their high workplace equality standards,” said Charles Cheever and Bill Gelnaw, co-managing partners at Choate.  ”Diversity and inclusion are integral parts of who we are as a firm, and we work hard to create a workplace that values and supports individuals of all backgrounds.”

A total of 366 companies achieved a 100 percent rating.  Ratings are based on providing equal benefits for same-sex partners and spouses, ending benefits discrimination for transgender employees and dependents, demonstrating firm-wide organizational competency on LGBT issues and demonstrating firm-wide public commitment to and engagement with the LGBT community.

“To achieve a perfect score, a company has to show a deep and serious commitment to treating LGBT employees fairly and equally on the job,” said HRC President Chad Griffin.  “We also look at whether a company is speaking out to advocate for LGBT equality here in this country and around the world.  Choate not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values.”

Founded in 1980, the Human Rights Campaign is the nation’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality, representing more than 1.5 million members and supporters.
