Choate today announced that Arthur S. Meyers, formerly the Boston Practice Group Leader of the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Department at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, has joined the firm as a Partner in its Labor & Employment Benefits Practice Group.  Mr. Meyers will continue to focus his practice in the areas of executive and equity compensation, employee benefits and ERISA issues.

Previously, Mr. Meyers served as the Co-Chairperson of the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Group at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge.  Prior to that, he was the Chairperson of the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Group at Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar.

Mr. Meyers counsels companies and their management in a range of industries, advising senior executives and boards on all matters relating to executive compensation; advising public and closely held entities on all aspects of equity compensation plans; counseling profit and not-for-profit employers on retirement, deferred compensation and welfare benefit plans; and serving as ERISA counsel to plan fiduciaries and private funds.
A frequent speaker at professional conferences, Mr. Meyers has also written extensively on the subjects of executive compensation and employee benefits.  He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Employee Benefits Law and in Chambers USA for Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation.  Mr. Meyers is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership and the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals.  He also is a member of the Executive Advisory Committee of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals and served as president of the Boston Chapter from 1998 to 2004.

Mr. Meyers received both his JD and BA from the University of Michigan, in 1981 and 1977, respectively.  He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Massachusetts and Michigan.
