Bill Asher, co-chair of Business & Technology and Life Sciences, was quoted in the Mass High Tech article “More Venture Capital Firms Halt Their Fund Raising.”  Mr. Asher commented on the announcement that Venture Capital Fund of New England and Velocity Equity Partners have suspended efforts to raise new funds, saying, “The real issue is whether your existing limiteds are going to support you on the next fund.  If that’s not happening then you’re in real trouble.”  He went on to place the two funds’ situation into a framework of the wider private equity market, from which he extrapolated how funds in similar situations might fare in the future.
