Bob Buchanan, partner in litigation, wrote an opinion piece, “Massachusetts Class Actions: Mixed Signals from the SJC” published in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Prompted by Directorship Magazine’s ranking of Massachusetts as 34th for states with legal climates hostile to business, Mr. Buchanan examines to what extent unprincipled class actions are encouraged in Massachusetts.  He covers the current landscape of class action disputes by examining the five most recent class action decisions in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court:

  • Moelis v. Berkshire Life Ins. Co.
  • Iannacchino v. Ford Motor Co.
  • Salvas v. Wal-Mart
  • Mullally v. Waste Management
  • Aspinall v. Philip Morris
