Karen Copenhaver has been named to the IAM Licensing 250: The World’s Leading Patent and Technology Licensing Practitioners.  This guide, published by Intellectual Asset Management magazine, identifies the top patent and technology licensing practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe.  Choate was also recognized as offering “the full range of IP services,” with transactional experience and expertise across “an extremely broad range of scientific and technological fields.”

According to IAM, Choate partner Karen Copenhaver is known as a “practical and approachable lawyer with extremely deep expertise.”

The IAM Licensing 250 also identified the leading patent and technology licensing firms in the market and recognized Choate’s expertise in numerous fields, including “life sciences, computer hardware, software and telecommunications,” with a “formidable reputation in open source software and business models.”

Ms. Copenhaver focuses her business & technology transaction practice on technology transfer and licensing of intellectual property, particularly in the areas of software licensing and open source business models.  She is listed in The International Who's Who of Internet & e-Commerce Lawyers, Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer.  She has been named the 2012 Boston “Lawyer of the Year” for Information Technology Law by Best Lawyers and was also named in The Legal 500 for technology transactions.  Ms. Copenhaver is only the 5th lawyer ever to receive Mass High Tech's prestigious “Mass High Tech All-Stars Award,” which honors the thought leaders and innovators throughout the New England technology sector.  She has been further recognized by IAM as one of the world’s top IP strategists in “IAM 250 — A Guide to the World’s Leading IP Strategists.”  Ms. Copenhaver is director of intellectual property strategy for the Linux Foundation.

To compile the IAM Licensing 250, the magazine’s research team spent four months interviewing hundreds of licensing professionals to gather in-depth information on the leading players in the field.  Only those individuals who received sufficient positive feedback, and who were identified for their exceptional record of important work and specialization in licensing, were included in the guide.
