Choate Names Five New Counsel

Choate today announced that five attorneys – Matthew Barrett, David Katz, Samantha Krasner, Jessica Lambert and Dr. Robert Sahr, – have been named counsel at the firm, effective May 1, 2015.

As counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation and Complex Commercial Litigation Practice Groups, Matt Barrett will continue to focus his practice on patent litigation, Lanham Act litigation, trade secrets litigation, and contract disputes.  He has extensive experience with complex patent infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets cases within the technology, life sciences, and software industries.  Barrett has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star.  He received his J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law in 2008 and his B.A. from Stanford University in 2003.

As counsel in Choate’s Business & Technology Group, David Katz will continue to focus his practice on general corporate matters for public and private companies including mergers, acquisitions, and sales in a variety of industries.  He also assists private equity clients and their portfolio companies through all phases of their investment process, including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, growth equity investments and fund formation. Katz has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2008 and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.

As counsel in the firm’s Insurance & Reinsurance Group, Samantha Krasner will continue to focus her practice on reinsurance arbitration and litigation on behalf of reinsurers and cedents, and arbitration and litigation for insurance companies involving coverage disputes.  She also represents leading corporations, financial institutions, and individuals in complex commercial litigation and government investigations.  Krasner received her J.D., high honors, from the University of Connecticut Law School in 2008 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Lafayette College in 2005.

As counsel in the firm’s Wealth Management Group, Jessica Lambert will continue to focus her practice on estate planning, trusts and estates administration, and related tax and fiduciary issues for individual clients.  She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 2008 and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Rochester in 2002.

As counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, Robert Sahr, Ph.D., will continue to focus his practice on advising and assisting clients in obtaining global patent protection for inventions in the life sciences, in particular therapeutic and diagnostic products.  He brings over 13 years of experience as a neuroscientist to his practice, including academic research and four years of drug discovery at Eli Lilly and Company.  Dr. Sahr received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law in 2009; his Ph.D. in medical neurobiology from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2004; and his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1993.
