Choate, Hall & Stewart Receives Top Honors in 2016 Summer Associate Rankings

Boston, MA, September – 21, 2016  Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP today announced that it ranked No. 1 nationally in the 2016 Summer Associate Survey conducted by The American Lawyer. This is the third consecutive year that Choate ranked first in AmLaw’s annual Summer Associate Survey.

“We've chosen to pursue an increasingly unique business model which we believe has great benefits for our clients and our talent alike,” said Charles Cheever, co-managing partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP. “We focus on a select group of areas where we practice at the highest level representing clients across the U.S. and internationally. To do this, we recruit and develop only the best and brightest, with all of our lawyers and staff in one office. We think this model helps develop our talent more effectively, which directly benefits our clients. We are thrilled that feedback from our Summer Associates continues to reinforce the success of our approach to the market.”

In the survey, Choate received a perfect average overall score of 5 on a 1-to-5 scale in every category on which the Summer Associates rated their firms. The responses of Choate’s summer associates indicated that they were able to perform diverse, interesting, and “real” work for clients; received excellent training and guidance, and interacted positively and frequently with partners and full-time associates. Choate also earned top scores for communicating goals and expectations, for how accurately it portrayed itself during the interviewing process, and whether the firm is a good place to work overall.

The American Lawyer survey, which guaranteed anonymity, was sent to almost 5,000 summer associates who were first- and second-year law students working at the AmLaw 200 law firms for at least three weeks this summer.
