Choate announced today that two of its partners – Dr. Brenda Herschbach Jarrell and Mr. Eric J. Marandett – have been included in the Patent Expert Guide 2017, placing them among “the world’s leading practitioners” in patent law.  Attorneys were included in the 13th annual guide based on nominations by in-house counsel and peers and extensive research by the Legal Media Group. This is the second time receiving the honor for both attorneys.

Dr. Jarrell is co-chair of the Life Sciences and Intellectual Property Groups at Choate.  An IP lawyer with keen business savvy, her extensive technical credentials make her well versed in a wide variety of technologies in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical industries.  Dr. Jarrell has experience representing companies and institutions at all stages of the life sciences business lifecycle, as well as those who invest in them.

Dr. Jarrell received her JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1998 and her PhD from the University of California, San Francisco in biochemistry and molecular biology in 1993.  She received an MA and a BA in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1988.

Mr. Marandett is co-chair of Choate’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group.  He represents biotech, pharmaceutical, and technology companies in high stakes patent litigation and other intellectual property and commercial disputes.  He is a seasoned trial lawyer who brings strong business acumen and courtroom skills to every litigation he handles.
