Legal Webinar Series: Insights and Lessons learned from the Top OSS Legal Cases

Organization:  Black Duck

Karen Copenhaver, partner in Business & Technology, presented the final installment of The Black Duck Legal Webinar Series, “Insights and Lessons learned from the Top OSS Legal Cases,” which covered the following topics:

  • Recent legal cases regarding open source licensing, including Jacobsen v. Katzer
  • Recent enforcement actions in the US and Europe
  • Patent claims asserted against code licensed under open source licenses
  • The long, strange trip that was SCO

The six-part Black Duck Legal Webinar Series examined the growing use of open source software and the ramifications of diverse and often incompatible licenses that set the critical terms for use and redistribution of open source code.  Mark Radcliffe, partner at DLA Piper and GC for the Open Source Initiative, was Ms. Copenhaver’s co-presenter.
