Timothy Becker Joins Choate

Choate today announced that Timothy Becker has joined the firm as Partner in its Tax Group.  Previously, Mr. Becker was a Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in New York City, where he was a member of their tax practice.

Mr. Becker has over 11 years of experience advising leading private equity funds, venture capital funds and hedge funds, as well as their portfolio companies, in a wide range of activities including M&A.  His practice includes advising these and other investment vehicles on US and international tax and structuring issues relating to fund formation, operations and investments, as well as US tax issues arising from inbound and outbound investments by funds.  Mr. Becker is highly experienced in both domestic and cross-border transactions including purchase and sale agreements, financings, joint ventures, operating and royalty agreements, reorganizations, spin-offs and split-offs, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings.

Mr. Becker received his LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2008, his JD and Master of Business Taxation from the University of Southern California in 2002, and his BA, cum laude, from Loyola University Maryland in 1998.
