Choate Adds Gustavo Resendiz to Its Fund Formation Team

Choate has welcomed Gustavo (“Gus”) Resendiz as a partner in the Firm’s Fund Formation practice. Gus will advise and help clients in the formation and representation of domestic and international private investment funds, including private equity, growth equity, and venture capital funds, as well as funds of funds. He will advise fund sponsors on all aspects of the fund formation process, including structure, key terms, marketing, and negotiations with investors, and will counsel clients regarding the structure and terms of their internal business arrangements and day-to-day legal and operational needs. Gus will represent institutional and other investors in their investments into alternative investment products.

Gus brings over 20 years of legal experience to Choate, with over a decade each as (i) outside counsel to investment managers and investors and (ii) general counsel and chief compliance officer to SEC-registered investment advisers. Gus has significant experience in the legal and business issues important to our clients, including compliance and regulatory issues, global risk management, business development and investor relations matters, and a wide array of operational and administrative practices.

Gus previously served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at New Generation Advisors, a U.S.-based, distressed debt and equity investment firm, and Ironsides Partners, a multi-national, event-driven investment firm. Gus began his career as a corporate attorney at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault and other nationally prominent law firms. He received his JD from the University of Southern California and has a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University.
