Choate Elevates Rees M. Hawkins to Partner in Private Equity Practice

BOSTON, JANUARY 3, 2017 – Choate today announced that Rees M. Hawkins has been elevated to partner in the firm’s internationally recognized private equity practice, effective January 1, 2017.

As a partner, he will continue to focus his practice on working with private equity and growth equity funds and their portfolio companies in general corporate matters, financing matters and M&A. Mr. Hawkins also regularly represents emerging companies at all stages of the business lifecycle across the globe.

Routinely recognized as a top lawyer in the industry amongst his peers, Mr. Hawkins was named to The M&A Advisor’s 40 Under 40 Award Winners in the Legal Advisor category in 2014, and has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star for the last six years. He received his J.D. with honors from The University of North Carolina School of Law in 2005 and his B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Leigh University in 2002.

Mr. Hawkins resides in Charlestown with his wife and two young children.
