Emily Hodge Honored at BBJ Gala

Emily F. Hodge, Counsel in the Firm’s Government Enforcement and Compliance practice group, was honored yesterday evening as one of 40 emerging business leaders at the Boston Business Journal’s 2017 “40-Under-40” awards gala. The annual recognition highlights outstanding professionals under the age of 40 for their business success and community contributions in the greater Boston area.

Ms. Hodge, 37, was chosen for the prestigious honor because of her high profile and complex legal work and her unparalleled commitment to community involvement. She focuses her practice on representation of individuals and corporations in government and internal investigations. She also provides compliance advice to companies and is experienced in complex civil litigation. Clients attest that her leadership, analytical skills and attention to detail make her a valued contributor in complex investigations.

In the community, Ms. Hodge is deeply devoted to public interest work. She chairs Choate’s collaboration with the Lawyers Clearinghouse, in which the Firm conducts legal clinics at local homeless shelters. In June 2009, the Lawyers Clearinghouse awarded her its Pro Bono Award. She has also spent significant time volunteering with the Citizen Schools program, leading legal apprenticeship sessions with local middle school students. She also represents the best interests of children in care and protection cases as a certified Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She finished a term as the President of the Lawyers Clearinghouse Board of Directors in September and served as the Interim President of the Boston CASA Board of Directors until July 2017.

“Emily is a remarkable young attorney and a highly respected member of the Firm both professionally and personally,” said Charles Cheever, co-Managing Partner, Choate. “Being named to the Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 is a testament to her commitment to serving her clients and community with great dedication. We are proud of her accomplishments.”

Honorees are selected by an editorial committee after the BBJ solicits nominations from the business community. Each year, the selection process gets more difficult as the quality of the nominations climbs. As in other years, 2017 honorees represent a broad spectrum of the Boston business community.

Ms. Hodge received her J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law School in 2006 and her A.B., cum laude, from Harvard University in 2002.
