Robert Buchanan, Jr. Named “Antitrust Trailblazer ” by The National Law Journal

Boston, MA, September 26, 2016 – Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP announced today that Robert Buchanan, Jr., chair of the firm’s Antitrust Group, has been named to the National Law Journal’s (NLJ) annual list of “Antitrust Trailblazers.” According to the NLJ, “these talented legal professionals…are raising the bar to achieve favorable outcomes for their companies and clients.”

Buchanan chair’s Choate’s Antitrust Group, which has expertise in litigating antitrust cases, advising on pricing and competitive strategies, and managing antitrust issues in complex transactions such as mergers, joint ventures, and intellectual property (IP) licensing. The NLJ praised Buchanan’s practice, saying he “has often been engaged by both sides in the same transaction.” For example, Buchanan served as antitrust lawyer for a working group of the three largest health care insurers and provider groups in Massachusetts as they worked to find a solution to a critical issue that affected everyone without sparking antitrust problems.

Buchanan is the chair of the firm’s Ethics Committee. He was named the 2016 Boston “Lawyer of The Year” for Antitrust Law by Best Lawyers. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1985 and his A.B., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard University in 1982.
