Choate Counsel Emily Hodge Named 2016 “Up & Coming Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly
Choate announced today that Emily Hodge, Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department, has been selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a 2016 “Up & Coming Lawyer.” The prestigious award is given to an elite group of attorneys who have distinguished themselves in the practice of law after 10 years or less of practice. Hodge will be honored at a reception in Boston on May 4, 2016.
“We are very proud that Emily was named one of the top young lawyers in Massachusetts,” said Charles Cheever, co-managing partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP. “Her dedication to her work, both within the firm and in the greater Boston community, has made her a strong role model for the next generation of lawyers.”
At Choate, Hodge represents individuals and corporations in government and internal investigations and related litigation, including healthcare fraud, export violations and securities fraud. She has also represented leading corporations in commercial litigation, including contract disputes, patent infringement claims, and qui tam cases. She has been a member of Choate’s Hiring Committee since 2011.
Hodge co-chairs Choate’s collaboration with the Lawyers Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing, which coordinates legal clinics at local homeless shelters. She has served as a member of the board of directors since 2010 and recently became Vice President of the organization. Hodge has also been active with Choate’s Citizen Schools program since 2006.
Hodge was chosen for the 2012-2013 Boston Bar Association’s highly selective Public Interest Leadership Program. She has volunteered as a certified Court Appointed Special Advocate since 2009 and became a member of the Boston CASA, Inc. Board of Directors in 2011. This spring, Hodge will run her seventh Boston Marathon as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team, raising funds for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
Hodge received her JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law School in 2006 and her AB, cum laude, from Harvard College in 2002. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer.
