Choate Hires Investment Management Veteran Lanny Thorndike to Lead Choate Investment Advisors
Choate, Hall & Stewart, LLP ("Choate") announced today that Alexander L. ("Lanny") Thorndike has joined as the new President of Choate Investment Advisors, LLC, the Firm's registered investment advisor subsidiary, with more than $5.5 billion under management.
Choate has served generations of America's wealthiest families for more than 100 years, building customized family offices through its wealth management group. Lanny will lead the investment arm of the business, Choate Investment Advisors, and will oversee investment strategy for the Firm's clients and growth of the business. He joins a talented group of investment professionals at Choate Investment Advisors.
Lanny also will work closely with the Firm's deep team of trustees, lawyers, tax preparers, and trusts and estates administrators, directly providing a combination of personalized services to clients. Those services include world-class estate planning, tax, investment management, and trust & estate administration work for multi-generational families, wealthy individuals, and entrepreneurs around the world.

Lanny has nearly three decades of experience managing money for sophisticated investors, including some of the world's largest mutual funds. He joins Choate Investment Advisors from Congress Asset Management Company, where he was a Managing Director and served as the lead portfolio manager for the firm's Small Cap Growth, SMid Growth, and Large Cap Growth funds. Lanny has also served as Managing Partner and CEO of Century Capital, Chairman of the Century Funds, and Portfolio Manager for Century’s Small Cap Select Fund and Century Shares Trust.
Lanny is active in the community, and currently serves on the boards of several organizations including Partners Healthcare, Brigham Health, and the Cotting School, the nation’s first school for children with disabilities.
