Choate Ranked Among Most Active PE and VC Law Firms in 2017

Choate was ranked as a leading legal advisor on several categories of private equity and venture capital deals for the first half of 2017, according to figures released by PitchBook, a research firm focused on the private equity and venture capital industries.

The Firm saw a jump in its rankings in several categories including total PE deal volume in the U.S., overall M&A activity globally and in the U.S., and PE deal volume regionally with strong postings in New England and the southeastern U.S. Choate was also ranked by deal type, specifically VC early stage and exit deals, as well as PE buyouts and “other” transactions. From a sector perspective, Choate continued its strong position in the healthcare and software technology industries. These results reflected significant increases in the number of both venture capital and private equity transactions compared against this time in 2016.

“As a firm, we’re experiencing some of the best deal volume we’ve seen over the past several years,” said Brian Lenihan, co-chair of Choate’s business department. “It is a credit to the sophistication of our lawyers and the quality of our relationships with clients that we continue to increase our market share in today’s competitive and complex transactional environment.”
