Choate Elevates Three to Principal

Three Choate attorneys – Shaun Barnes, Diane Seol, and Rick Thide – have been elected principal at the Firm, effective September 1, 2020.

As principal in the Private Equity Group, Shaun Barnes will continue to represent domestic and international private equity, growth equity and venture capital fund sponsors. Shaun will focus on middle-market and lower-middle market firms, and advise fund sponsors on all aspects of the fund formation process, including structure, key terms, marketing, and negotiations with investors, as well as GP and Management Company structure, secondary transactions and regulatory compliance.

As principal in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group, Diane Seol will continue to represent biotech, pharmaceutical, and technology companies in complex intellectual property and commercial litigation, including patent, trade secret, contract, and licensing disputes.

As principal in the Finance & Restructuring Group, Rick Thide will continue to represent banks, finance companies and corporate borrowers in a broad range of U.S. and multi-national commercial finance transactions. He will also advise secured creditors and debtors in a variety of creditors’ rights and insolvency matters across a range of industries, including retail, technology, healthcare, and consumer products.
