Jason Karlinsky advises fund sponsors and asset managers in the formation, structuring and operation of private investment funds and related investment management businesses. He counsels clients across a broad range of private markets strategies, including private equity, hedge, credit, real estate, venture capital and evergreen funds, as well as domestic and offshore fund structures, funds of funds, separate managed accounts and sub-advisory arrangements. Jason also advises on management company and general partner structuring, governance, economic arrangements and other strategic matters affecting investment management platforms.

In addition, Jason advises institutional investors and fund sponsors on primary and secondary investments in private investment funds, bringing a practical understanding of the issues that arise from both the sponsor and investor perspectives.

Jason spent 16 years at Credit Suisse Asset Management, serving in a variety of legal and business leadership roles, including as Americas Co-Head of Product and Business Development. In those roles, he led the development and structuring of private and public investment products and worked closely with investment, distribution, operations, finance and senior management teams on a wide range of strategic initiatives.

Jason’s extensive in-house and business-side experience gives him a practical understanding of the commercial, operational and regulatory challenges faced by both emerging and established asset managers. Clients value his ability to provide legal advice that is informed by the realities of launching, operating and growing an investment management business.
