Built for individual growth
Attorneys who have begun successful careers with other firms, in-house, or in public service often seek a lateral transition to Choate. Our practice focus and commitment to lean staffing with dedicated teams enable our associates to develop expertise and play important roles in client relationships early in their careers. Because integration is critical to our lateral associates’ success, every lateral is paired with a partner and peer mentor who focus on ensuring a smooth and quick integration into the Firm.
The Choate Bonus Program
Choate is built different, and our differences provide material benefits to our clients and the best-in-class talent which joins us. We are focused on capitalizing on our unique model in everything we do.
This includes associate compensation. So, in addition to paying base salaries and “market” bonuses which are consistent with the top firms in the country, we have created a new long-term bonus program which is intended to provide appropriate rewards and incentives to our team for their significant contributions to the Firm and its clients over a multiple-year period. This new program tracks billable hours for each calendar year, starting with 2018. At the end of each calendar year starting with 2019, all associates who are in good standing and meet their billable hour thresholds for at least the prior two years will receive an additional special bonus payable at year-end. The program also offers analogous awards to our counsel, non-equity partners, patent agents and staff scientists.
