Two Choate attorneys – Kevin Finnerty and Sarah Tomeo Hertzog – have been elected to partnership of the firm, effective January 1, 2026. Kevin J. Finnerty is a member of the Insurance and Reinsurance and Business and Financial Litigation Groups. He represents global insurers and reinsurers in their most challenging matters, including disputes involving natural catastrophes, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, asbestos, silica, and terrorism. Kevin also provides advice on coverage issues, complex exposures, and wordings. In addition, he litigates significant commercial disputes including matters involving contractual breaches, fraud, and claims brought under ERISA. Sarah Tomeo Hertzog is a member of Choate Wealth where she advises individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations on charitable giving matters. She works closely with individuals to understand their philanthropic objectives and provide them with the tools to accomplish their goals, including by helping them structure and operate charitable giving vehicles and negotiate gifts. Likewise, she provides counsel to colleges/universities, hospitals, and other nonprofits regarding the structure, implementation, and administration of planned giving arrangements. In addition, she advises tax-exempt organizations in connection with grantmaking, formations, reorganizations, tax compliance, and investment activities.
