Hannah C. Wendlandt

Staff Scientist

Dr. Hannah Wendlandt assists Choate’s life sciences and technology clients by utilizing her background in organic chemistry to help with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, as well as freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses.

Prior to joining Choate, Hannah was a Scientific Advisor for the chemistry practice group of a global law firm. In this role, she prepared and prosecuted U.S. and foreign patent applications and advised clients on patent drafting and filing strategies across a range of technologies, including pharmaceutical compositions, small molecules, polymer materials, catalysts, medical technologies, and energy-related innovations.

Hannah earned her PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, where her research focused on the development of novel transition metal-catalyzed organic reactions. In particular, her doctoral thesis investigated intercepted polymerization strategies for the multicomponent assembly of amine-containing small molecules, as well as kinetic and mechanistic investigations to validate novel transformations. Hannah previously interned at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute, where she investigated fibroblast involvement in epithelial-mesenchymal transition in human thyroid cancer.
