Natalia Smychkovich

Natalia Smychkovich advises a wide range of clients, with particular emphasis on intellectual property and general commercial litigation.  She represents clients throughout the litigation process in both state and federal court, as well as in domestic and international arbitration.  Her experience also includes defending corporate clients in nationwide class actions.  She has successfully assisted several clients in efficiently resolving complex disputes on favorable terms.

Natalia has first chaired several trials and evidentiary hearings while serving as a Special Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County. She is a native speaker of Russian.

  • Milliman, Inc. et al. v. Gradient A.I. Corp. et al., D. Mass.: Counsel for Gradient A.I. in patent infringement and trade secret litigation relating to systems for de-identifying data.
  • Shire v. CSL Behring LLC, D. Del.:Counsel for Shire (now Takeda) in patent infringement action relating to use of biologic for treatment of hereditary angioedema.
  • Cushing, et al. v. Sheehan, et al., Mass.: Counsel for officers and directors in derivative litigation claiming breaches of fiduciary duties relating to corporate management.
  • Represented leading distributor of consumer electronics in nationwide class action litigation, defeating nationwide class allegations shortly before the case settled.
  • Represented private equity firm in an international arbitration relating to alleged fraud in operating portfolio company.
  • Represented high-level corporate executives in wrongful termination and defamation arbitration.
  • Represented global pharmaceutical company in a termination dispute with a former employee.
  • Represented sponsor of au pair cultural exchange program in connection with nationwide class action litigation.
  • On a pro bono basis, represented several immigrant aid groups and individuals in a federal lawsuit challenging decisions relating to Temporary Protected Status.
  • Assisted in drafting amicus brief for the Supreme Court on behalf of the Boston Patent Law Association.
