J.P. Jaillet
J.P. Jaillet, co-chair of the Litigation Department, focuses on financial litigation. J.P. represents insurers, reinsurers, lenders, and secured creditors in court and arbitration.
In addition to his practice, J.P. serves as Choate’s Hiring Partner, where he helps lead firm-wide attorney recruitment.

- Advise reinsurers concerning COVID-19 coverage issues in connection with property, liability, and workers’ compensation losses.
- Trial counsel for reinsurers concerning large property claims and aggregation issues, including with respect to ice dam, wildfire, and storm losses.
- Advised life insurers and reinsurers concerning variable annuity disputes.
- Trial counsel for leading reinsurer in $75 million arbitration concerning treaty underwriting issues.
- Obtained $100 million recovery in catastrophe bond dispute.
Finance
- Represented secured lenders as litigation counsel in various Chapter 11 cases.
- Trial counsel for secured lender in contested debtor-in-possession proceedings in Tuesday Morning bankruptcy.
- Represent major technology company in connection with alleged $40 million fraudulent transfer.
- Obtained summary judgment for investor in lawsuit alleging $25M million investment fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.
