Madeleine is a member of Choate’s Business and Financial Litigation and Government Enforcement groups. She advises a broad range of clients on complex litigation and government investigations, with experience including securities fraud, internal investigations, licensing disputes and insurance coverage disputes. She has represented major pharmaceutical companies, global reinsurers, and defense contractors, assisting with compliance assessments, enforcement risk evaluations, and litigation strategy. Her work includes supporting clients in high-stakes disputes and investigations that often involve cross-border elements and sensitive regulatory issues.

Madeleine is also strongly committed to pro bono representation, particularly in matters related to immigration and constitutional issues.

While in law school, Madeleine was a student attorney for the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in the Trial Division. She was also a judicial intern for the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, where she assisted the Honorable Juan R. Torruella.

  • Represented Chief Technology Officer of major public company in an SEC investigation into disclosures relating to large scale cybersecurity breach.
  • Represented software company in a contract and non-competition action related to an asset purchase agreement.
  • Represented a national retail company in a contract and licensing dispute.
  • Advised a multinational defense contractor in an internal investigation regarding manufacturing processes, including assessment of potential self-disclosure obligations and enforcement risk.
  • Represented a major insurer in nationwide coverage litigation involving thousands of underlying lawsuits and billions in potential exposure, including multiple declaratory judgement actions across the U.S.
  • Assisted in representation of a global reinsurer in an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in a $30 million dispute.
  • Supported litigation strategy for a leading insurer in connection with PFAs exposure claims involving over $1 billion in policy limits.
